Marcotte awarded scholarship from Southern Illinois Bank
Southern Illinois Bank is helping Patriot student athletes forge their futures at Morthland College.
The bank recently donated $1,000 for a scholarship that was awarded to Ashly Marcotte, the 20-year-old daughter of Corey and Deanna Marcotte of Marion. Ashly works two part-time jobs while attending MC full time and playing on our Patriot softball team. She is a business major who hopes to have a career in public relations after graduation.
“MC is a good fit for me because it has the Christian foundation that I’ve been looking for in a college. Being able to focus on a major and still focus on and learn more about God is something that I wanted,” Ashly said.
This fall, Morthland College has launched its Forging Futures Scholarship Campaign, with a goal of raising $320,000 for renewable athletic scholarships to help students like Ashly complete their educations.
“We appreciate greatly Southern Illinois Bank’s support of our students,” said MC spokeswoman Leigh Caldwell. “Southern Illinois Bank demonstrates its support for our community time and again, and we are thankful for all that they do for Morthland College.”
